1 Stonedelph Cottage

Surrounded by woodland and fields, 1 Stonedelph is the first of a pair of stone cottages at the end of leafy private lane. Inspired by the Sussex heritage of the Bloomsbury group and the early 20th century Arts & Crafts movement, we’ve used classic British prints, wallpaper and vintage finds in all the rooms. There are large French doors off the sitting room onto an enclosed south facing patio with wrought iron garden furniture, flower and herbaceous beds and lawn. 1 Stonedelph sleeps four, with a charming eat-in kitchen. There are two bedrooms upstairs, as well as a bathroom with a freestanding cast iron bath. The property also has original floorboards. a wood burning stove and a cosy reading nook.

Wifi is a basic human right (at least according to our children). We have tried to update these cottages with modern features where we could – for instance, every bathroom has underfloor heating and each cottage has a wireless speaker for impromptu dancing. Mobile phone reception is trickier and (depending on your provider) phone service may be patchy inside the cottages, although there is decent phone coverage on the lane and around the properties. There is excellent wifi. We’ve also kitted out the kitchens with Smeg fridges and nespresso machines (coffee also being one of those basic human rights).

Across a private country lane from each other, Stonedelph 1 and Stonedelph 2 can be rented independently or taken together by a larger group or extended family. They are dog friendly, close to an area of ancient woodland and really are perfect countryside retreats.

Each property can accommodate a travel cot and high chair.
